WINE IDEAS

-

A compact but wide-ranging list that could perhaps benefit from a few more wines by the glass. The menu suggests a glass of manzanilla dry sherry as an aperitif, at a very fair €4 for 50ml, and this is the sign of a thoughtful restaurant. Prices start at a very fair €24 for a decent Sauvignon Blanc from Gascony and at €6.50 for a generous 175ml glass of Pinot Grigio (€26 for a bottle). Domaine Allegrets is a decent Languedoc Merlot for the same price and Château de Gaudou Exception (pictured) is a Malbec from its homeland of Cahors, great value at €7 or €28 a bottle. Luc Baudet Rive Droite Côtes du Rhône (€8/32) is a fleshy red while other highlights include bone dry Brandal ‘Terrassen’ Kamptal Riesling (€44), Rondon Rioja Crianza (€30) and the fresh sweet Château Haut Rian Coulus from Bordeaux for €6.50 a glass.
