WINE IDEAS

-

My kind of list, two sides of A4 covered with very carefully chosen stuff, mostly but not entirely Italian, and lots of good stuff by the glass. There are rarities like the Villa Cialdini Lambrusco di Castelvetro (pictured, €12/€46), lightly sparkling and hard to find even in Bologna, and Bibi Graetz Bollamata Spumante Rosé (€14/€69) from Tuscany among the fizz. Forest Avenue’s own lovely Bourgogne Blanc (€10/€39) is a snip and Elvio Cogno’s Nascetta AnasCetta (€54) is a stunner, made in tiny quantities in Piemonte. Dorigo Cabernet Franc (€10/€38) from Friuli is a perfect match for pizza, and Il Palaggio Chianti ‘When We Dance’ (€12/€42), from Sting’s Tuscan estate is excellent, the best celebrity wine I’ve tasted. Sassicaia 2016 is a stunner and, believe or not, reasonably priced at €305. The food here is certainly worthy of it and, if I win the lotto, that’s how I’ll celebrate.
