Looking for a lighter, brighter new-season scent? These six launches all get my vote

There’s often much pontificating around perfume and changing what you wear at certain times of the year – so opting for less heady fragrances in spring. In my opinion, you should wear whatever makes you feel good on any day you feel like it. But if you’re in the mood for a new fragrance, here are six launches that I think are highly worthy of attention…

Jo Loves Golden Gardenia is a triumph, wherever you are and whatever the time. The lusciousness of the gardenia petals is mixed with a dash of incense, cardamom and grey woods to create a sophisticated, centred and confident aroma. It’s both light and airy but also grounded – and still oozes sex appeal. From

€85, joloves.com.

Guerlain Nerolia Vetiver is the latest addition to its Aqua Allegoria range, which are always breezier concoctions than its classic perfumes. They exist in a space where a great cologne meets an haute eau de parfum and are perfect if you like a more delicate fragrance for summer. Added to the notes in this new launch’s name are basil and fig – inspired by the island of Ischia in the bay of Naples – to create a warm and inviting sense of escapism. These bottles are now refillable. From €63.95, parfumdreams.ie.

Trish McEvoy Fragrance X is a wonderfully enveloping mix of spiciness and warmth thanks to saffron and cinnamon alongside amber and myrrh – lifted by some bergamot and lavender. The added freshness makes it enticing, not overwhelming. €220, trishmcevoy.com.

Leighton Denny Encourage eau de parfum is an affordable scent from this brand better known for nailcare. With notes of lemon balm, a very creamy and warm vanilla and black pepper, this is moreish and emboldening. €35, leightondenny.com.

Jo Malone London Bitter Mandarin Cologne is a limited edition fruity-lite offering but with a hazy warmth, like the balmy air of a Mediterranean summer evening lending it a carefree mood-boosting prowess. A fragrance with a big smile, the kind that conjures up past joys and adds a bounce to your step. From €92, brownthomas.com.

By Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad Eau Fraîche is a kind of semi-new launch – and a limited edition for the summer. The original is already a hit, but this lighter

‘eau fraîche’ version means that an aquatic freshness has been added to the orange blossom, jasmine, tuberose and rose.

So, if you prefer a less heavy fragrance in the warmer months, this offers seduction that beckons with an airy charm. €160.40, cultbeauty.com. @edwinaingschambers
