MANI MUST-HAVES

-

There’s no miracle cure for weak nails, but there are products that can give them a helping hand (ahem). Do be patient, though – even with regular use it can take several weeks to see results.

First things first: use a pro nail file like Margaret Dabbs Crystal Nail File (€16.90, cultbeauty.com) lightly every other day. Not only does this last ages and can be used in both directions, it also seals the edge of the nail to help prevent splitting.

Next, keep cuticles and hands hydrated and healthy.

Typology 10-Ingredient Hand Balm (€13.50, typology.com) is a nourishing formula stripped free of any filler ingredients like additives. With hydrating hyaluronic acid and nourishing organic coconut oil, this absorbs well and guards against dehydrated skin.

Now, the nails. Cool French brand Manucurist recently launched Complete Serum

(€14, manucurist.com), a water-based formula with panthenol, which penetrates the nail to moisturise. It works in symbiosis with keratin in the nails to help strengthen them.

On the subject of keratin, CND Rescue RXx Daily Keratin Treatment

(€19.99, beautysavers.ie) uses keratin protein to fortify frail nails while jojoba oil penetrates the upper layers to support nail growth.

Finally, use something oil-based on your cuticles to seal in all that goodness.

Jessica Phenomen Oil

Intensive Moisturizer

(€11.45, lookfantastic.com) contains jojoba alongside nourishing vitamin E – when applying to your cuticles try to really massage the oil in, as the increase in blood flow will help.

Not a fan of oils? Try a solid format instead; Navy Cuticle Balm Mini (€10, navyprofessional.com) is a blend of coconut oil, shea butter and aloe vera extract. The unisex scent is addictive.
