WHEN TRINNY CAME TO DUBLIN

THE MAKE-UP MAVEN HAS LAUNCHED IN BROWN THOMAS AND HER WHIRLWIND VISIT ENRAPTURED ALL WHO ENCOUNTERE­D HER

They say you should never meet your idols as they will disappoint you but last week I got to meet a woman who has been a girl crush for decades and was definitely not disappoint­ed. Trinny Woodall was here to launch her beauty brand Trinny London in Brown Thomas in Dublin, and is just as funny and frank in real life as she is on screen. She is her own best ambassador: now 60, she looks at least a decade younger and fizzes with effervesce­nt energy. She embodies the philosophy of her brand that beauty should be modern and fuss-free, while looking amazing too.

An intense back-to-back schedule means only 15 minutes to discuss her reinventio­n as a digital beauty entreprene­ur. As a seasoned media hand, Trinny gives a good interview but also has an ability to focus entirely on you.

This talent to woo an individual or an entire room was deployed expertly amidst the scenes of Trinny mania in the Brown Thomas beauty hall. Women didn’t quite faint but there was a contagious buzz. The excitement due to Trinny’s presence was high – and she loved it.

‘It’s been really fantastic – it’s like everywhere we go there’s a joy,’ she says. ‘You walk down the street, and you see people with joy in their eyes and it makes you feel so joyful and then you give that joy to someone else. So, it’s like this really nice circle.’

Trinny visited Dublin before in 2018, but this visit was on an amplified scale, travelling with an entourage of ten, including her Irish chief make-up artist John Corcoran. The week involved a media
