TOMÁS ON BRINK — SEAMUS

-

KERRY legend Seamus Moynihan believes former colleague Tomás Ó Sé will have considered quitting after his latest redcard woe. Ó Sé is facing a twomatch ban after seeing red against Laois last weekend. Kerry are already through to the League semi-finals but if they lose there they won’t be back in action until May 20 when they play Tipperary in the Munster championship. Moynihan reckons it will have crossed Ó Sé’s mind that he could easily turn his back on Kerry and retire but, ultimately, he reckons the 34-year-old will be back. ‘Here’s hoping that he just keeps with the whole thing because that can certainly bring you down,’ said Moynihan, his former All-ireland-winning defensive colleague. ‘I would imagine Tomás might be questioning whether he wants to stay involved or not.’ Kerry chairman Patrick O’sullivan said they would consider an appeal against Ó Sé’s third red since last May but after reviewing video footage of the incident that showed him striking a Laois player, they opted not to. However, it is Moynihan’s strong belief that the An Ghaeltacht man will be back challenging for a sixth Celtic Cross in the summer. ‘I would think so, I think he’ll definitely stay on,’ Moynihan said. ‘He’s in great shape. The most important thing now is that he’s right for the Championship and he’ll be back. He’ll just have to look at the bigger picture here. And the Ó Sés always have done that. They’ve always put Kerry first.’ Moynihan is upbeat about Kerry’s current form as they find themselves favourites for the League title, with Paul Galvin on fire. ‘He’s back to the brilliant best that Paul was when he was Player of the Year a few years ago,’ Moynihan said of Galvin. ‘His work rate is tremendous.’
