FERGAL AXED IN GALWAY SHUFFLE
ROOKIE Galway goalkeeper Fergal Flannery has been axed after boss Anthony Cunningham rang the changes for Sunday’s Leinster SHC clash with Offaly. Flannery has paid the price for a poor defensive performance in the quarter-final win over Westmeath, which saw the Tribe concede four goals. Cunningham has made three changes in all with wing-back Paul Gordon and corner forward David Glennon also dropping out, the latter making way for the anticipated return of Joe Canning (below). Meanwhile, Stephen O’Keeffe, Stephen Daniels, Philip Mahony and Gavin O’Brien will make debuts for Waterford against Clare in the Munster SHC semi-final. . And Derry inter-county rookies John McCamley and Eugene Scullion on will start Saturday’s Ulster SFC quarterfinal with Donegal.
