Internet trolls in threat to murder Adele’s baby boy

- By Lucy Osborne

HER son is less than a week old and is yet to be officially named.

But that hasn’t stopped twisted internet users from threatening to kill Adele’s baby.

Hundreds have taken to the Twitter to make threats, insults and tasteless jokes about the Grammy award-winning singer and her child.

Moments after the birth was revealed on Saturday morning, Vanessa Bieber tweeted to her 4,000 followers: ‘Aw Adele gave birth to a baby. Is it fat and handicapped lol? Just murder it already lol.’

Another, Minoru Thatha, wrote: ‘I swear I’ll go and see her in the UK and kill her. And her baby.’

Both Twitter users have now deleted their accounts following criticism from Adele’s fans, who described the pair as ‘disgusting cowards’.

One of the most popular comments about the singer’s baby read: ‘ Didn’t even know that Adele was pregnant, just thought she was fat. Oops.’ This was retweeted hundreds of times around the world.

Others suggested that the 24-year-old

‘What is wrong with these people’

singer could use post-natal depression as ‘good song-writing material’.

Somone calling themselves Chris Whiting tweeted: ‘Adele’s had a baby boy! Can’t wait for her post- natal depression album.’

It wasn’t just unknown Twitterusers joking at Adele’s expense. American shock comedian Joan Rivers, wrote: ‘Congratulations to Adele on the birth of her 68lb 8oz bouncing baby boy.’ Parenting website founder Siobhan Freegard said: ‘What is wrong with these people?

‘Making jokes about mental health conditions is questionable at the best of times but to do it to a woman who has just given birth is the lowest of the low.

‘Post-natal depression is a very serious illness which affects in some form up to a third of new mums – and has been linked to mothers committing suicide or killing their children. It isn’t a subject for a cheap shot.’

She added: ‘Undoubtedly Adele is a tough cookie to succeed in the cutthroat music business, but attacks on your child and your first days as a new mother are a different matter.

‘The people posting these vile attacks may see them as a throwaway joke, but they could be seriously devastating to Adele – or to any other woman reading them with a new baby.’ Adele and 38- year- old boyfriend Simon Konecki are said to be ecstatic about the birth of their first son.

The couple started dating last summer and moved in together earlier this year.

Mr Konecki also has a five-year- old daughter with his ex-wife Clary Fisher.

X Factor judge Gary Barlow, 41, and Olympic diver Tom Daley, 18, have also been the target of internet trolls.

Barlow was taunted after his daughter was stillborn in August and Daley was told he ‘let down’ his dead father by missing out on a gold medal at the sum- mer games.

Neither of their tormentors was prosecuted.

But in June, Nicola Brookes, who was sent death threats by internet trolls, won a landmark legal case against Facebook, in which she gained a legal order forcing the site to disclose the identities of the trolls.

Charities said that the High Court ruling sent a message to cyber bullies that their anonymity can be stripped away, leaving them open to prosecution.

Miss Brookes was tormented by trolls after she left a message of support for X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza on the social networking site.
