What a peach of a picture... mother and child
PEACHES Geldof yesterday released the first official pictures of her newborn.
Bob Geldof’s daughter gave birth to Phaedra last month – the second child she has with husband, Thomas Cohen.
Following a Caesarean section on April 24, Peaches told Hello Magazine that she and her husband were ‘overjoyed’ to become parents again.
‘Tom and I are completely overjoyed to welcome Phaedra into the world,’ she told the magazine.
The date has particular significance as it would have been the 54th birthday of
‘Bob is absolutely over the moon’
Peaches’s late mother, Paul Yates.
Sources close to the couple said at the time: ‘They are absolutely over the moon about their new arrival. It all went smoothly and Peaches will be in hospital f or a while to recuperate.
‘Bob is absolutely over the moon, the whole family are. They are particularly pleased about the significance of the date as it makes Peaches feel she is keeping her mum’s memory alive.’ In 2000, when peaches was 1 1 - year- ol d, her mother – who hosted the Big B r eakfast on Channel 4 – died of a heroin overdose. Peaches married Tom in St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence Church in the village of Davington, near Faversham in Kent last year. It was the same church where her mother was laid to rest more than ten years previously. It was also were her father Bob and mother were married in 1986. The couple had their first child, Astala, last April just before she bought a flat with her rock singer boyfriend.
The couple have been lined up for an exclusive photo shoot with Hello magazine to welcome their latest addition to their family.
In a previous interview with the magazine, Peaches revealed how she reacted when she found out she was about to have second child so soon after her first.
She said: ‘I did have a momentary panic and go, “Oh my God, we’re going to have a one-yearold and a one-month-old! How will we cope”?’
‘Tom was so supportive and relaxed, it banished my doubts and I started imagining the two boys growing up together as the best of friends. There are massive benefits to having two children so close together.’
