CRAFT ROBOT SPIDERS, PAPER PLANES AND LOTS MORE

TODAY, from 10am to 6pm, the Science Gallery hosts its second Dublin Mini Maker Faire at Trinity College Dublin. The free, family-friendly event brings together craftspeople of all ages to showcase their inspiring creations. COMEDY DYLAN, TOMMY AND CO PROVIDE LAUGHS

WHATEVER the weather, why not let some of the finest comedians around brighten up your weekend in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens. Today and tomorrow are the last days of the Vodafone Comedy Festival, but tickets are still available. As well as international stars, the cream of Irish stand-up comedy — including Dylan Moran (pictured), Tommy Tiernan and Jason Byrne — will also bringing the laughs. See vodafonecomedy.com.

GARDEN EXPLORE OUR NATURAL PLANTS AND INSECTS

IF we get a sunny spell, it is worth visiting the Walled Gardens in Powerscourt Gardens, Co. Wicklow. One of the oldest parts of the estate, the gardens feature more than 1,000 varieties of plant along with Ireland’s longest herbaceous border, which is now in spectacular full bloom. Remember to keep an eye out for a host of native butterflies and bees. Entry costs €8.50 for adults and €5 for children. See powerscourt.ie.
