Who do you think you are... a hedge-dog?

- By David Wilkes

THEY are usually f ound snuffling about in the undergrowth looking for snails, slugs and beetles to eat.

But this hedgehog has a taste for the finer things in life, enjoying meals inside a luxurious farmhouse instead.

Twice a day the little ball of spikes slopes in for a breakfast and supper of dog food served in his own bowl.

Animal l over Beli nda Horne, 61, began feeding the tiny creature after it wandered into her utility room from the garden of her ten-acre home.

Unperturbed by her pets, Sybil, a nine - month- old dachshund, and Charca, a seven- month- old t erriercross, the hedgehog now eats with the puppies every day at 9am and 6pm.

And the fearless critter is not afraid to take a bite of their food as well as his own.

Yesterday Mrs Horne, who lives in Privett, a village in Hampshire, southern England, said: ‘ He also loves unsalted cashew nuts and doesn’t like to share his bowl with anyone.

‘He is not the slightest bit frightened of anybody.’
