LALLANA SHOWS RIO BRIO

- By SIMON CASS

ADAM LALLANA is determined not to become a one-cap wonder after dazzling England manager Roy Hodgson with a sublime solo goal. Watching from the St Mary’s stands, Hodgson grinned from ear to ear as Lallana justified his international call-up with a manof the-match display against Hull, topped off with a goal-of-themonth contender. ‘I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself,’ said Lallana. ‘I just want to enjoy training and playing with the best players, not just in England but in Europe and the world. ‘But I won’t just be going along for the ride — you’ve got to have that desire when there’s a World Cup around the corner because it’s every kid’s dream.’ Even beaten Hull boss Steve Bruce gave the Southampton skipper a vote of confidence, claiming that ‘wonderful talent’ Lallana (right) can go all the way. Credit must go to manager Mauricio Pochettino for sticking by the wealth of English ability at St Mary’s, so what price an Argentinian as the next manager of England? ‘They would take away my Argentine passport; they would take it and throw it away,’ he laughed.
