Cara Delevingne — the Charlie Chaplin of the fashion world

KARL Lagerfeld is famously known for his loose-lipped comments about certain celebrities, models and actresses.

Last year the Creative Director of powerhouse Chanel called Adele ‘a little too fat’, before slagging off Pippa Middleton in the wake of her sister Kate’s marriage to William.

‘I don’t like the sister’s face,’ he told Grazia magazine. ‘She should only show her back.’

But it seems the Kaiser of the fashion world has his favourites too. Model of the moment Cara Delevingne is frequently spotted at par- ties and fashion events with Lagerfeld i n tow and the designer has long been an avid fan of the 21-year-old.

In fact Cara was catapulted to supermodel status recently after she was compared to Kate Moss, but the designer dismissed the claims, saying: ‘She’s not the new Kate Moss. Kate’s on another level. Cara is different. She’s full of life, full of pep’. More recently, he likened his muse to one of the most legendary comedians of all time, saying: ‘She’s the Charlie Chaplin of the fashion world.’ We can’t help wondering what Kate Moss thinks about his change of heart. Or Keira Knightley — who we can only imagine is reading his remarks through owl-eyed spectacles. The Hollywood star is very close to the German designer — they have a bond so strong he offered to design her wedding dress for her marriage last year to Klaxons singer James Righton.

But with his new fascination with Cara, Keira may now have to take a backseat. ‘All girls admire her,’ he said about Delevingne. ‘They all want to be as free as her.’
