Glenda is the latest to claim her great genes mean she does not have to diet

-

IT seems like some of our celebrities have superhero genes – as Glenda Gilson is the latest beauty to come out and claim she does not need diets or fitness fads. Last month, model Pippa O’Connor insisted she didn’t go to the gym, while Ronan Keating’s future wife, Australian producer Storm Uechtritz, claimed she struggled try to keep weight on because she’s naturally so slim.

Now Xposé host Gilson, pictured, has told The Red Carpet that she’s another lucky lady when it comes to her svelte figure – and it’s all down to having her mother’s legs and a fast metabolism.

She said: ‘I’ve a really fast metabolism and my brother is the same way.

‘I’ve always been that way, even when I was small, and hopefully that stays. ‘I take after my mum in that regard. ‘She’s been walking every day in Phoenix Park for as long as I can remember.

‘She has killer legs and wouldn’t be one for cellulite or anything. ‘Fingers crossed I’ll be the same.’ Glenda, who admitted she had considered rejoining a gym but could not bear to ‘ walk around with sore legs’, said she kept clear of paleo or vegan diets, which have become popular among catwalk queens i ncluding Rosanna Davison and Roz Purcell.

‘I don’t have a tag. I eat everything and anything – I love my food,’ said Glenda, 34.

‘I’m a bit of a grazer though, so I eat little and often from all the running around.

‘If something stresses me out or anything, I push my food away.

‘I lose my appetite if that happens – I’m a worrier.’

The model-turned-broadcaster, who got hitched in August 2014 to her businessman partner Rob Macnaughton in Doonbeg, Co. Clare, said that like any other woman in the media spotlight, she felt under pressure to look her best on screen.

And she’s garnered a few tricks of the trade to appear well-groomed.

‘You always feel pressure when going in front of the cameras. In TV3, you’re rushing from one job to another and sometimes you don’t get to reapply your make-up or anything.

‘But I find if I’ve good hair, I can hide a lot. I can’t wash my hair myself or do anything like that so I go to get it done by a stylist every week.

‘Thankfully, it’s really dry and it stays nice for days, so that helps.’

Yesterday, Glenda hosted the inaugural Great Lengths Ireland hair extension awards at Fade Street Social in Dublin.

The event celebrated the ‘crème de la crème’ of hairdressing talent, handing out prizes in eight categories.

‘If you see anyone with beautiful hair like Victoria Beckham or Jennifer Aniston, the likelihood is they’re wearing extensions,’ Glenda said.

‘I’ve been wearing them since they arrived in Ireland and I swear by them.’
