Stuart ‘ has a new family in Costa Rica’
HE was a regular on the red carpet during his nine-year romance with Oscar winner Charlize Theron, but now Irish actor Stuart Townsend is settled and bringing up a ‘whole new family’ in Costa Rica, his brother Dylan has revealed.
Stuart, 42, split from South African beauty Charlize, who is now engaged to fellow A-lister Sean Penn, in 2010.
His brother Dylan, 30, who is featuring in the new RTÉ reality series Exiles, told the Irish Daily Mail that Stuart somewhat ‘ fallen off the map’ lately and has been notably absent from the Los Angeles social scene after falling in love with a Costa Rican woman.
He said Stuart and his partner had one child and were expecting a second shortly.
Dylan said: ‘He’s in Costa Rica now. He bought l and there, so has not been in LA for the past six months. He’s got a whole new family that noone knows about and he’s about to have a second child.
‘He’s fallen in love with a Costa Rican girl and he’s got land, and it’s a totally new journey for him.
‘I’m really happy for him. He’s got a home in LA, but he has not been there – I haven’t seen him in a while. He’s sort of fallen off the map, bringing up children,’ he said.
Actor and writer Dylan said he was not keen on being compared to his big brother when it came to work. Townsend is best known for his roles in feature films Resurrection Man and About Adam and TV shows Queen Of The Damned, Betrayal, and more recently, Elementary.
Dylan said he had had enough of being compared with his brother.
He said: ‘ ‘ I’m my own man and I ’ m not doing what Stuart did. He’s been gone for 15 years.’
