Worth a shot, it’s Aldi’s rival to NutriBullet blender...

- By Fionnuala O’Leary

THERE is no excuse for unhealthy eating with the introduction of Aldi’s Mini Food Processor, which went on sale for just €22.99 yesterday.

The blender is more than €100 cheaper than more expensive juicers, such as the NutriBullet, which can cost as much as €129 in some retail outlets.

Dermott Jewell of the Consumers’ Association of Ireland said while it was ‘hard to say’ which product was better quality, he added: ‘There’s a choice at last.’

Aldi said its version still ‘makes chopping and blending a doddle’ and will help to ‘make life in the kitchen a whole lot easier’. But power-wise, Aldi’s blender is just 350W in comparison to the NutriBullet’s 600W.

The blender is backed by a three-year manufacturer’s warranty, for the customer’s peace of mind. It comes with two stainless steel blades, four small 260ml cups, two bigger 473ml cups, six storage lids and one lid for shakes or smoothies. Its cross blade is used for juicing, blending and chopping vegetables and meat, while the flat blade is suitable for whipping cream and even grinding coffee beans.

The Irish Daily Mail’s Cormac Cahill, who uses his NutriBullet ‘every morning’, has tried Aldi’s offering. And he agreed that it was ‘hard to say’ if there is a like-for-like difference.

‘I think it’s well worth the money if you use it,’ Mr Cahill said of the NutriBullet.
