Action hero Neeson almost too gaunt to be recognised

- Mail Reporter

LIAM Neeson was almost unrecognisable on Thursday when he took a jog near Central Park in New York.

The Taken star, who has played a series of action hero roles lately, wore a blue bandana and shades for the morning run, and chewed on a toothpick as he ran.

Neeson’s appearance has changed significantly in recent months. He has appeared uncharacteristically gaunt and thin in a number of shocking snaps taken earlier this summer, despite protests from his spokesman that the Ballymena man ‘has never been healthier’.

The actor, 63, sparked concerns over his health when he was seen sporting a baseball cap, a lavender top and tracksuit bottoms during an outing in late July. At the time, he looked gaunt, with his grey hair sticking out beneath his hat and his reading glasses perched on his forehead.

Despite the gaunt look, Neeson still has the reputation of a hard man – reinforced by his recent roles in the Taken films, as well as Run All Night and A Walk Among the Tombstones.

Fighter Conor McGregor recently admitted that, despite his champion status, he wouldn’t mess with Neeson.

When asked by an American television network whether he was as popular in Ireland as Bono or Liam Neeson, the 27-year-old Dubliner said: ‘Bono is pretty big. I’m probably up there.

‘I’m younger, it’s a different generation than maybe he’s at. Don’t ever f*** with Liam Neeson, that motherf****r will come after you and your family.’

Neeson’s next film, A Monster Calls, which also stars Sigourney Weaver, is slated to come out in October 2016.
