MIGRANT DAD BATTLES TO SAVE BABY

A DESPERATE father battles to keep his two-month-old baby afloat after their overcrowded dinghy sank off a Greek holiday island. They were among about 70 migrants who were thrown into the water when their small inflatable boat burst about 80m from Lesbos after setting out from the Turkish coast. The Syrian father and his child reached the island safely thanks to the help of locals, who pulled them in on rubber rings. But else- where yesterday at least 34 migrants, including some 15 babies and children, drowned when their wooden boat capsized near another Greek island, Farmakonisi. Around 97 were saved or swam to safety.
