Kane: We can run Jurgen’s boys off the park

- By MATT BARLOW

HARRY KANE has warned Jurgen Klopp that Tottenham will go the extra mile to ensure his Liverpool reign starts badly at White Hart Lane. Klopp’s first game as manager will be on Saturday lunchtime at Spurs, who are unbeaten in the Barclays Premier League since their defeat at Manchester United on the opening day. Tottenham have moved to within two points of the top four with a philosophy based on Mauricio Pochettino’s demand for selfless commitment, energy and high-intensity football. ‘We’ve out-run every team we’ve played this season,’ said Kane. ‘That’s a sign we’re playing the manager’s tactics right and we’re fit enough to do it. ‘So, it’s a case of doing it again on Saturday. Liverpool are going to have a new manager and they’ll be up for it. In the first couple of games everybody tries to impress, so they’ll probably have five per cent extra than usual. ‘We expect that. But we know what we have to do. We have outrun every team we have played and will be looking to do so again.’ Kane said the Liverpool players on England duty had been excited at the prospect of returning to Merseyside to work with Klopp, who was appointed to replace Brendan Rodgers last week. ‘They could not wait to get back,’ said the Spurs striker, after winning his sixth international cap in Lithuania, where he was denied the fourth England goal of his career. His shot hit a post and ricocheted in off goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis, who was credited with an own goal in England’s 3-0 win. ‘Oh no, that’s a scandal,’ joked Kane, when he was told it would not go down as his goal. He is not finding goals quite so easy to come by as last season. ‘I was unlucky not to score officially. I got a few shots off and was quite pleased with the way I played. I’ve just got to keep going at it, keep working hard and the goals will come. I thought I played well. The team played well as well. It was a good 3-0 victory. ‘I’m doing the right things. I’ve just got to keep working hard and do my best for Tottenham. It’s down to club form and if I’m playing well then I will hopefully come away with England for the friendlies.’
