IN his Budget speech, Mr Noonan laughed at Charlie McCreevy’s line: ‘If I have it then I’ll spend it!’ How many of us will be laughing when the next finance minister will have to ‘borrow’ nearly €2billion to pay for the goodies being thrown to us as bribes for votes? One thing Mr Noonan did not remember when laughing at Charlie McCreevy. Charlie won; Noonan could well lose!
