Nicole to do some Dirty Dancing in TV role
HER risqué music videos prove she is no stranger to Dirty Dancing. Now Nicole Scherzinger is to put those skills to good use by starring in a TV remake of the hit 1987 movie.
The 37-year-old pop star will play Penny, the first dance partner of instructor Johnny Castle.
Set in the summer of 1963, Dirty Dancing tells the love story of Johnny and 17-year-old Baby. In the movie the late Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey played the lead roles, while Cynthia Rhodes was Penny.
Nicole, who previously dated Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, posted on Twitter: ‘So excited to join the cast of Dirty Dancing remake! Can’t wait for you all to see it!’
The new version will be made by American TV channel ABC and will star dancer Colt Prattes as Johnny and 19-year-old Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin as Baby.
The show will be three hours long and will air in the US later this year. It is not known if it will be shown in Ireland.
Ex-Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole recently starred in a revival of Cats.
