I’M sick of hearing of the hardships endured by single parents. Unless things have changed it takes two to produce a child so therefore every child has in fact TWO parents.

FRANK FARRELL, by email. FÁILTE Ireland has warned hotels not to price themselves out of business (Mail, March 2). What a cheek for a quango to tell private businesses how to do their jobs. What makes Fáilte Ireland think it knows more about the hotel business than the people who actually run the hotels for a living?

KAREN WHELAN, Dublin 4. ENDA had a cheek promising a gender-balanced cabinet. I’d like a cabinet made up of the best, most talented individuals. Gender should not be a factor.

ANGELA O’DONNELL, Wicklow. SO snow is on the way just as spring starts. Should we now expect a frosty summer and another warm winter?

JOHN GLEESON, Cork city.
