KILDARE easily justified favouritism in last night’s meeting with Offaly, powering ahead in the second half to record an 11-point victory. A pinpoint pass from Neil Flynn in to Chris Healy set up the game’s opening goal shortly before half-time and while Offaly replied with an excellent Adam Mahon score, a 1-4 to 0-4 half-time deficit left them with a mountain to climb. Cein McMonagle extended Kildare’s lead with their second goal just 20 seconds after his introduction and while Shane Tierney and Gio Russo combined to respond with an Offaly major, the final quarter belonged to Kildare as they scored eight points in succession.
