Callanan back for Tipperary

-

TIPPERARY scorer-in-chief Seamus Callanan is set for a return to action this weekend for the Allianz Hurling League match against Division 1A pace-setters Waterford. Kieran Bergin is also available for selection in what is a double-boost for manager Michael Ryan. That news has been offset by the fact that Jason Forde and James Barry have both been ruled out.

MONAGHAN midfielder Dick Clerkin says he was fortunate to escape with just a broken eye socket following a horror training ground collision. ‘It was a bad clash of heads, totally accidental and one of those freak things that just happened.’

KILKENNY hurling legend DJ Carey has warned of increased levels of burnout in young players due to the change of age of the minor intercounty grade to Under-17 from 2018. ‘You have development squads all over the country and now that’s all going to start a year earlier, with lads starting on weights and nutrition.’
