Woollies a must for all this weekend!
THE country is set for more cold weather this weekend with temperatures as low as 0C – after some parts of Ireland were covered in snow yesterday.
However, there is no sign of snowfall for today, which will be a cold and breezy day with a mix of cloud and scattered showers.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Mail, Met Éireann meteorologist Pat Clarke said: ‘There will be a lot of dry weather over the weekend with a few scattered showers of rain or hail.
‘Temperatures on Saturday will only be between 5C and 8C – these values are below normal for this time of year.
‘[Tonight] will be a few degrees below freezing, so it will be quite a cold, frosty night.’
Tomorrow is expected to be dry with some frosty conditions.
However, next week is to set to pick up, with some bright, sunny spells on Monday.
But don’t pack away the umbrellas just yet, as there will be heavy rain on Tuesday throughout the country.
Meteorologist Mr Clarke added: ‘Temperatures may recover a little next week but the weather is very unsettled, very changeable, with winds coming in from the Atlantic from time to time.
‘We will have periods of wet weather at times next week.
He added: ‘Temperatures will recover a little, closer to normal value, which at this time of the year should be between 8C and 11C in the daytime.
‘Over the weekend, it will be well down on those values but they might recover a little next week.
‘The weather is not settling down, it’s still quite changeable.’
Much of Leinster was blanketed in snow yesterday, with motorists forced to use alternative routes, as many roads were impassable due to snowfall.
