GLENDA GILSON is a reporter with TV3 entertainment show Xposé. She says:

‘I’VE BEEN on plenty of holidays with both my mum and dad, but one that sticks out for me was when I went to London for a weekend with just my mum. Aileen absolutely loves London, she has been over there several times and can make her way around no bother. She’s full of knowledge about the city and she’s into the royal family and all that. We stayed in the Kensington hotel in Queensgate and had such a great weekend, with two lovely nights out together.

I have such a laugh with my mother but s he gets you in trouble. She gets into a fit of laughing and I can’t even make eye contact with her.

We s pent our days together walking around, shopping, eating and drinking — sure, what else? We went to Harrods and the two of us wanted to have some cake.

When we were going to the sweet department, we saw Robbie Williams as he passed us on an escalator. At the time he was going through that phase where he was a bit bigger, and he was wearing a long leather jacket. I said, “Oh my God, that’s Robbie Williams!” and Mum said, “What? It is not!” The two of us were kind of stunned — and then we started following him around the shop, still arguing among ourselves about whether or not it was him. But it definitely was! I’ve interviewed him plenty of times in my life but I’ve never told him about the day my mum and I stalked him in Harrods.’
