‘We didn’t think it through,’ admit some Brexiteers

-

SOME Brexit supporters have admitted they already regret voting to leave the EU – confessing their actions were not fully thought through.

Even as British Leave voters celebrated a come-from-behind victory in the early hours of yesterday morning following the historic poll, many others were left stunned by the results – with some even regretting their votes altogether.

One Leave voter told the BBC: ‘I didn’t think my vote was going to matter too much, I thought we were just going to remain.’

One Twitter user, Ryan Richardson, said: ‘I voted leave to help our economy. However, the pound has plummeted and I immediately regretted my decision.’

Other voters told the BBC they woke up thinking: ‘What have I done?’

They admitted they didn’t actually think the UK would leave.

In a segment during the BBC’s rolling coverage of events, one Leave voter said on national television that he didn’t think his ballot would matter – and was shocked the UK would be leaving the EU.

The man, who was identified as Adam, said: ‘I’m shocked that we voted for Leave, I didn’t think that was going to happen.

‘I didn’t think my vote was going to matter too much because I thought we were just going to remain.

‘The period of uncertainty we’re going to have for the next couple months, I think that’s just been magnified now.’

There was strong criticism on social media of Adam’s comments – with one user writing: ‘Are you actually joking, man on BBC News. I voted to leave, didn’t think my vote would matter. LITERALLY UNBELIEVABLE.’

Another social media commentator wrote: ‘What we have here is a prime example of the failure of this country’s educational system.’
