McGrath wants more

- BRENDAN FURLONG

FERMANAGH manager Pete McGrath has called for a repeat of the second-half performance as his side condemned Wexford to a five-point defeat at Innovate Wexford Park on Saturday.

After a sloppy first half at the end of which they led by a single point with the wind behind them, Fermanagh delivered a splendid closing 25 minutes in which they dominated the home side.

They increased the intensity of their game, with inside forwards Tomás Corrigan and Sean Quigley dismantling the home fullback line, while centre-forward Ryan Jones took command in midfield.

As for McGrath he made it clear: ‘We need improvement. Our first half display was indifferent to say the least but once we upped the tempo of the game in the closing 25 minutes we dominated.’ WEXFORD: A Masterson (P Murphy 62); J Rossiter, N Rossiter, J Wadding; B Malone, S Byrne (PJ Banville 46), S Donohoe; C Kehoe, D Waters; K O’Grady (R Tierney 62), A Flynn (K Butler 50), E Nolan; D Shanley (S Roche 58), B Brosnan, J Tubritt.
