ISN’T she lovely? Well Rory McIlroy would agree, and it seems Stevie Wonder will be serenading Erica Stoll just that at their wedding this weekend.
The superstar singer is to perform at the couple’s lavish wedding in Co. Mayo.
The 27-year-old golfer will marry New Yorker Erica at Ashford Castle in Cong, with no expense spared given the choice of acts set to perform for wedding guests.
A source close to McIlroy told the Mail that the World No.2, from Co. Down, has hired Wonder to sing at his wedding reception. The source added: ‘Wonder will perform with an 18-piece band, at vast expense.’
‘They are flying in on Thursday and, separately, a piano and piano tuner are arriving from London.’
The hotel is fully booked out for four days beginning yesterday, as guests begin to descend on the west coast.
Rory and Erica, 29, have remained very low-key since they started dating three years ago.
It’s believed that’s why they chose Ashford Castle, as they like the ‘privacy’ – but it also holds special memories for them. A source recently told our sister paper, the Irish Mail on Sunday, that, despite having his choice of locations around the world, the couple ‘really fell in love’ with Ashford Castle.
Rory and Erica are frequent visitors to Ashford and have spent New Year’s Eve at the five-star hotel for the past three years. In fact, it was in 2014 that they were first pictured together during a stay at the resort.
The couple, who had been dating for just a few months, flew into Ireland for the Christmas period. After a few days in Dublin’s Westbury Hotel they went to Mayo where they quietly rang in the New Year. They also took a helicopter ride around the county and did some sightseeing during their stay.
New Yorker Erica is flying in her family and friends for the big day, while McIlroy will have a large guest list of famous faces from the world of sport and celebrity.
