From cat killer to cat that got the cream – Barry almost grins!

- By Ryan McBride

FORMER Love/Hate actor Barry Keoghan brought the stunning Shona Guerin as his date to the Irish premiere of the starstudded flick Dunkirk in the capital last night – having also taken her to the London premiere.

The pair had stepped out together at the glamorous event in the English capital last week and looked equally dapper this time at the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin.

Keoghan, 24, who has come a long way from his cat killing role in gangster drama Love/Hate, sported a smart suit and a white shirt, while Shona, a make-up artist from Kerry, impressed in a white dress.

The film is the latest high-profile outing for Keoghan, who appears

‘Changed the course of history’

opposite fellow Irish actor Cillian Murphy, 41 – who also wowed fans at the Smithfield venue.

Murphy didn’t crack a smile on the carpet, and sported a hairstyle seemingly inspired by his Peaky Blinders role as Tom Shelby – shaved at the sides, slick at the top. He wore a matching navy suit and shirt and no tie. The film is the first silver screen adventure for former One Direction singer Harry Styles, who didn’t turn up last night.

The Christopher Nolan-directed epic is set in 1940 during the German advance into France during World War Two, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk in northern France. Troops were slowly evacuated from the beach, using every boat that could be found and at the end of the mission, 330,000 French, British, Belgian and Dutch soldiers were safely evacuated. The film’s star Cillian Murphy told RTÉ: ‘It [the battle] changed the course of history and we would live in a very different society if the outcome was different.’

Other stalwarts of Irish cinema came out last night to see the war flick. Sing Street star Jack Reynor, 25, and his girlfriend, model and actress Madeline Mulqueen, above, were snapped on the red carpet. Limerick native Madeline, 26, looked stunning in a red dress alongside Jack, who followed the trend of leaving the tie at home.
