‘It’s horrendous’ says father hit at home and work

-

SIMON King said he is not holding his breath that the water supply will be restored by Saturday.

The father of two lives in Ashbourne, Co. Meath, but commutes to Drogheda for work – both locations have been affected.

The supply to his home has been completely cut off for three days.

‘It’s absolutely horrendous,’ he said. ‘I have two young kids, so it’s extremely difficult.

‘In the centre where I work in Drogheda, it’s had to close because of the situation we’re in.

Patrick Duffy and his partner Avija Ozola, who have a young child together, have been faced with a unpredictable water supply since Friday. Mr Duffy’s Drogheda home, which is a few minutes away from his partner’s home in Termon Abbey, has had a complete water outage since Friday while Ms Ozola had her supply briefly restored for a time on Monday night.

‘They say there could be trapped air in the pipes so that’s another worry,’ Mr Duffy said. ‘It’s been a complete nuisance.’ Kieran Judge enlisted the help of his eight-year-old daughter Ava on a trip to collect water from a Louth council water tanker yesterday.

The factory where the father of two works has been forced to shut as a result of the outage: ‘We’re down wages now and everything.’

His other daughter Sophie, 14, has been ill with a stomach bug during the outage which has added further stress to the family.
