My Sir Titan is no Qatar soft touch

- By HAYLEY TURNER

TRAINER Marcus Tregoning supplied my one previous Glorious Goodwood winner — Boom And Bust in the 2011 Betfred Mile — and hopefully he can give me another when I ride SIR TITAN in the Qatar Handicap this afternoon. My work for ITV is my priority these days, but I still have my licence and ride out regularly in Newmarket. This season, I’ve been offered four rides and won on two of them. While I feel I am still riding well, I will keep taking a few mounts if trainers are happy to put me up. I’ve had a long association with Marcus, who has a great record at Goodwood. Sir Titan (above) only has 8st 2lb to carry and I was booked at the start of the meeting. I saw Sir Titan win his last race at Windsor and, while the going was quick that day, his galloping action looked like he will have no problem on today’s softer ground. Marcus’s horses are brought along gradually so, having only raced four times, there should be more improvement in him. Meanwhile, having ridden him on trainer Robert Cowell’s gallops, I fancied and tipped OUTBACK

TRAVELLER to win the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot, a race he won in the 2016. He didn’t run badly, being beaten less than six lengths, but the ground was too quick for him. His win at Wokingham came on good to soft. A proven performer in these competitive handicaps, he is worth another chance having also come down a little in the handicap. Richard Hughes had a great record here as a jockey. Now he’s training and I like his
