FOXES SHOW BITE FOR NEXT BOSS

- ADAM SHERGOLD at the Liberty Stadium

LEICESTER will begin their search for Craig Shakespeare’s successor in a positive frame of mind after this reminder of their attacking strength. Shinji Okazaki was their star performer and match-winner, but Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton were also excellent in a fluent display against Swansea that lifted Leicester up to 14th in the table. Claude Puel, Sean Dyche and Manuel Pellegrini are among the managerial candidates but whoever comes in will have a first league win since August 19 to build on. ‘This period has been a bit embarrassing for us with our poor results and then being without our manager,’ said Okazaki, whose tap-in just after half-time proved the winner. ‘So we just decided to keep things very simple — onetouch football where we pass and move. It worked.’ Leicester led when Federico Fernandez headed into his own net. Okazaki added the second, but Alfie Mawson’s response made for a nervy finale. ‘It’s about time we started putting some more points on the board,’ said captain Wes Morgan. ‘This was more of the Leicester of old.’ Caretaker boss Michael Appleton will be in charge for tomorrow’s Carabao Cup tie with Leeds and he is hopeful whoever is chosen as the new boss will keep him on.
