Gangster ‘baying for blood’ over murder of associate

Ally of shot man out for revenge and ‘has a gun’

A CLOSE associate of a gangland murder victim has sourced a loaded pistol and is preparing a revenge attack against his killers, the Irish Daily Mail can reveal.

Jamie Tighe, 24, was shot dead in the early hours of Saturday on the street in Coolock, north Dublin, after a night out socialising with friends.

So far two theories have emerged for his killing. One is that it is linked to a localised drugs turf war over territory and that Tighe himself last week shot a man who survived.

The other is he was targeted over his links to those involved in the botched double murder in Ballymun in August which saw innocent mother-of-six Antoinette Corbally and the chief target’s friend, Clinton Shannon, gunned down by mistake.

Within the past 24 hours, gardaí have gleaned intelligence that a close associate of Tighe has sourced a loaded Glock and has a number of cars at his disposal he could use to help carry out a revenge hit ‘imminently’.

Sources say gardaí are now ‘watching this person 24/7’ to try to thwart a retaliation killing. A senior source said: ‘This individual has wasted no time getting a gun and cars and is baying for blood. To say tensions are high is an understatement. This person is being closely watched. His own associates are trying to get him to cool down a bit and bide his time, as gardaí are watching very closely all of this developing. One way or the other, it seems there will be retaliation for this from Tighe’s close-knit circle of associates.’

The 24-year-old’s murder is not believed to be linked to the Hutch-Kinahan feud.

A gunman approached him outside a house at around 2.25am on Saturday and shot him in the back of the head.

Gardaí last night renewed their

appeal for information in relation to the shooting, particularly for information about the vehicle used in the incident.

Officers from Coolock were appealing for information about the black Audi A3, registration number 00-OY-5067, used in the shooting – particularly its whereabouts during the hours of 11pm on Friday and 4am on Saturday.

‘We would like to hear from drivers who may have dash cams and who travelled in these areas during the relevant time; we would particularly appeal to taxi drivers who may have been in the area to contact us,’ they added.

The assassin fled the scene in the black Audi A3, which was found partially burnt out around 10km away on Prospect Hill in Finglas, north Dublin, less than half an hour later. Gardaí later sealed off the scene on Moatview Avenue in Coolock where the shooting occurred while forensic officers examined the area.

Tighe had dozens of convictions including for firearms offences.

He had been drinking in a local pub with a large group of friends earlier on Friday and was walking through the estate when he was murdered.

Originally from Darndale, the victim did not live at the house he was shot outside.

Sources say he was not considered a major gangland figure.

However, he was the suspected gunman in a shooting last week, in which the victim survived.

He was involved in a local drugs feud over the past few years, in which houses were also shot up in north Dublin.
