Enter the dragon! Dublin Zoo lights up
DUBLIN Zoo opened its doors to a very different kind of wildlife last night as the Wild Lights festival began.
The special event, which runs until January 7, sees the zoo taken over each evening by a host of fantastic illuminated animals and giant glowing lanterns.
Visitors admired specially created creatures including a pride of lions, troupes of monkeys and orang-utans, tigers, giraffes and more, all magically lit from within.
The centre piece is a huge 30-metrelong Chinese dragon, and there is also a 16-metre-tall porcelain elephant tower, a Chinese craft market, and performances from a team of Chinese acrobats.
