IRISH broadcaster Eamonn Holmes is among those who have been included in Britain’s 2018 New Year’s Honours List.

The Belfast native is set to receive an OBE award for his broadcasting services throughout a TV career that started with UTV in 1979.

Holmes, 58, has become an audience favourite, presenting TV shows such as GMTV and Sunrise on Sky News, and is also a regular contributor to Celebrity Big Brother spin-off show Bit on the Side.

He now presents Friday episodes of the popular ITV show This Morning alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, and the pair also host How the Other Half Lives on Channel 5.

The couple, who have been married for seven years, have a 15-yearold son, Jack. The Belfast native also has three children from his previous marriage.

He is in good company on the Honours List, with a number of wellknown names also set to receive an award.

Ringo Starr, former drummer with The Beatles, will be granted a knighthood for his services to music.

He will be the second member of the legendary band to receive this accolade as Paul McCartney was granted the honour in 1997. Starr previously received an MBE, in 1965.

Other familiar names on the list include singer-songwriter Barry Gibb, who will be given a knighthood, as well as ex-British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and actor Hugh Laurie, who will both receive CBEs.
