Glenda: Millie in my bling was a gem of a moment

TV3 star Glenda Gilson says she jumped off her couch with excitement when she saw her jewellery being worn on television.

Former Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh wore a necklace from the 36year-old’s new ‘G by Glenda Gilson’ collection on RTÉ’s Ray D’Arcy Show recently.

Beside Glenda on the couch at the time was husband Rob McNaughton, and even though he was thrilled for his wife, the Dublin businessman had no idea who Millie was.

Xposé host Glenda recalled: ‘Just before Christmas I was watching TV and I jumped up and said, “Oh my God, Rob, she’s wearing my jewellery” about Millie Mackintosh.

‘And he stood up and said, “Oh my God, isn’t this brilliant… who is she?” If it’s not a bucket on a machine [he doesn’t know what it is]… he’s a machinery man,’ she laughed.

The TV presenter added that her husband, whom she married in August 2014 in Kilrush, Co. Clare, is very supportive of her career and always has her back.

And it seems that as she is getting older, the Castleknock native needs that support, as she revealed that she’s a big softie. ‘I am not as confident as you’d think. And people also think that I might be a bit hard-nosed but I’m actually not. I’m a bit of a crier and a bit of a sensitive old soul,’ she said. ‘I find as I’m getting older, it [work] can be daunting. Bringing out your own jewellery collection into this big, bad world with people knowing who you are. But I got nice comments which was really good and I hope it continues.’

Speaking at the recent TV3 spring launch, Glenda also revealed she and her husband spent the festive season on holidays in Mexico, where they were joined by her parents.
