Piper’s daughter, three, asks about her acid scars

-

KATIE Piper has revealed her three-year-old daughter has begun asking her about marks on her face and body, caused by a horrific acid attack in 2008.

The inspirational TV personality and campaigner, 34, left, said her eldest daughter Belle started asking questions about her scars after noticing she was getting hospital treatments. In a candid new interview with a Sunday magazine, Katie said: ‘She mainly asks about my hands.

‘I just tell her I was burnt when I was younger; it did hurt, but it doesn’t now. All she really says is, “Be careful of your other hand” when I’m near the oven. But if she asks how I was burnt, I’ll tell her the truth.’

In March 2008, when Katie was 24 years old, Danny Lynch, a man she had been dating, arranged for an accomplice to throw sulphuric acid in the aspiring model’s face.

The attack left her partially blinded, with severe and permanent scarring to her face, chest, neck, arm and hands.

Brave Katie has undergone more than 300 surgical procedures since the attack,

Katie waived her anonymity in 2009 and allowed Channel 4 to film a documentary about her recovery, in an effort to raise awareness of the plight of burns sufferers.

She met her now-husband Richard Sutton four years after the attack, with the couple welcoming daughter Belle in March 2014, and marrying the following year.

Last December, Katie gave birth to her second daughter, Penelope Diane.

She is passionate about self-esteem and advocates for self-belief, especially among those who are scarred, through her charity, The Katie Piper Foundation.
