Reality TV stars ‘cheat over weight loss DVDs’

- By Ben Spencer news@dailymail.ie

TWO more reality TV stars have been accused of misleading slimmers over how they lost weight for their workout DVDs.

A personal trainer has claimed that I’m A Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison and The Only Way is Essex star Lauren Goodger attended gruelling bootcamps to shed the pounds before filming.

It follows similar allegations made against Scarlett Moffatt, of Channel 4’s Gogglebox fame, last week.

David Souter, who has worked with all three celebrities, said yesterday: ‘There are so many lies, it’s horrible.’ The three women were paid large sums to make their fitness DVDs.

But before filming they underwent intense exercise programmes in the Swiss Alps, where they were subjected to strict diets of as little as 700 calories a day.

Ms Pattison, 30, dropped from 12 stone to 8st 3oz to make her Seven Day Slim DVD, for which she was paid a reported £160,000 (€180,000).

In the introduction to the film she said: ‘This is what’s helped me go from a size 16 to a size six. The great thing about this is the routines are only ten minutes each.’

She later admitted she was deeply unhappy at the time, saying: ‘I wasn’t enjoying the gift of life as I was too worried about the calorie content of a blueberry.’

Ms Goodger, 31, attended ten boot camps before losing enough weight to make her OMG! Workout DVD, according to Mr Souter, who runs his own fitness company.

‘She told me she had done boot camp after boot camp with her team, who were desperate to stop her weight yo-yoing,’ he told the Sun On Sunday.

‘She would lose the weight, but then she would resist the process. Once she disappeared to Paris for two days and managed to put on about 10lbs. So then she’d been sent back to another boot camp. She went to around ten in total.’

Ms Moffatt, 27, who is also an I’m A Celebrity winner, is even said to have taken diet pills before making her DVD – something she denies. Having lost three stone, she told viewers of her SuperSlim Me Plan, which sold 60,000 copies: ‘If I can do it – a professional couch potato – then you can too. With the help of ... this cunning plan.’

Mr Souter, 45, said he had received text messages from her during her boot camp complaining she was being told to ‘pop pills’. He added: ‘If you asked most of the girls after their DVD if they are happy with their weight, they would say no. They would like to be a stone heavier.’

Last night Ms Goodger’s agents could not be reached for comment.

A spokesman for Ms Pattison said: ‘Vicky has been open and honest about her weight battles. Vicky has also been very vocal about the potential dangers surrounding quick weight-loss methods, including fitness DVDs. Vicky has now found her personal healthy balance.’

A spokesman for Ms Moffatt told the Sun on Sunday: ‘Scarlett never knowingly took diet pills.’
