Ireland’s Got Talent nearly put on ice...

-

THE snow threatened to shut down production on TV3’s Ireland’s Got Talent as key props were delayed in transportation.

A giant chandelier with over 50,000 crystals was being driven in from Berlin for aerial acrobat Keeva Air Candy who was going to swing from it.

However, the bespoke prop was last night stuck en route on a freight truck battling the elements across Europe.

A spokesperson for the show confirmed that several key props and wardrobe creations had failed to make it to the Helix ahead of tonight’s debut live show. However they insisted that ‘the snow, sorry show, must go on’ even if the trucks fail to make it through the unseasonal wintery conditions.

‘The weather has sent the production team into a frenzy, they are literally at their wit’s end,’ said the show’s publicist. ‘Keeva had planned a breath-taking act but, as of yet, the chandelier isn’t here.

‘A number of acts have not made it to rehearsals so the weather really has messed with the show. But everyone is working around the clock to steady the ship and we will be ready to go when the show goes live tonight.’

This is the second time in two days that producers were left in a sticky situation when it looked unlikely that judge Louis Walsh would make it home from London for the live shows. The X Factor judge only managed to get on a flight yesterday afternoon after his previous attempts to f l y home were thwarted by the snowy conditions.

The first semi-final will air tonight at 8pm on TV3.
