Angelina: Ageing is OK as I see my mother in me

-

ANGELINA Jolie is happy to grow old gracefully as she says she’s enjoying seeing her late mother’s features in herself.

The 42-year-old actress has insisted that she ‘loves getting old’ and is embracing her wrinkles.

Oscar winner Ms Jolie’s mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, died aged 56 in 2007 after a battle with cancer.

The mother-of-six told InStyle magazine: ‘I look in the mirror and I see that I look like my mother and that warms me. I also see myself ageing and I love it because it means I’m alive… I’m living and getting older. It’s more that I see my family in my face. I see my age.’

The actress, who has been estranged from husband Brad Pitt since 2016, credited her American-French mother for her own parenting style. Ms Bertrand, pictured with Angelina in 2001, raised Angelina and her brother James alone after divorcing their father, actor Jon Voight.

Speaking about life without her mother, the actress added: ‘I would give anything for her to be with me at this time. I’ve needed her. I talk to her often in my mind and try to think what she might say and how she might guide me.’

Ms Jolie had a double mastectomy in 2013 after discovering she carried the same BRCA1 gene as her mother which can lead to breast cancer.

She hoped to reduce her chances of developing breast cancer, a disease that killed her mother, grandmother and aunt. Ms Jolie has six children with Pitt – Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 11, and nineyear-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
