LIVING THE DREAM

We can go all the way and win it, insists Ox

LIVERPOOL midfielder Alex OxladeChamberlain says glory in the Champions League would be a dream come true.

Ahead of today’s semi-final draw — where Liverpool could be paired with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Roma — Oxlade-Chamberlain is excited by the club’s place on the elite stage.

The 24-year-old, a £35million signing from Arsenal last summer, never got past the last 16 with the Gunners but believes Liverpool can make history, no matter who they are drawn against.

‘This is everything you dream of when you are a young lad,’ OxladeChamberlain said. ‘You want to play in finals and they don’t come much bigger than the Champions League. We’ve made my dream that one step closer by getting into the semi-finals.’

Having knocked out Manchester City in Tuesday’s quarter-final, Oxlade-Chamberlain insists Liverpool fear no one in the draw.

He said: ‘To beat City twice in a week is no easy feat. It shows to us that when we are at the right level we can beat anyone.’

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah added: ‘There’s something very special about playing for Liverpool. The Champions League nights are special for the fans too. You can feel it on the streets.

‘The atmosphere in that first game against Man City was the first time I had seen something like that. Everyone knew it would be a difficult game, but I said we had to be positive and win. That’s what we did.’
