So is Zayn a pain to work with as his boss drops him?
ZAYN Malik has parted ways with his long-term manager amid claims that he’s difficult to work with. He and Sarah Stennett started working together following Zayn’s departure from One Direction in 2015. Their relationship is said to have come under pressure as he refused to tour and promote his first album, Mind Of Mine. Sources told Variety that Zayn ruffled many feathers at Stennett’s management company, First Access Entertainment, for allegedly being ‘challenging to work with, declining many promotional opportunities and not touring behind his last album’.
Zayn, pictured with Stennett, appeared to have a change of heart for his forthcoming untitled album – to be released in June – and is currently planning and rehearsing for a tour to promote it.
Despite agreeing to promote the album, the fractured relationship seemingly couldn’t be repaired, with First Access Entertainment deciding to terminate their relationship with him.
Stennett, who ranked number 89 on the Billboard Power 100 2018, is a co-founder of the company that also manages big-name singers such as Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha and Nicole Scherzinger.
Stennett confirmed the news to Variety, explaining: ‘Sometimes in life you have to make extremely difficult decisions to effect positive change for everyone.’
Zayn is the second big name to part ways with the London-based management team in the last few months; at the start of 2018 pop singer Ellie Goulding left the company on good terms after a decade of with it.
Zayn has been going through a lot of change recently, having split from his model girlfriend Gigi Hadid in March. They had been an item for two years.
