Soap star cans the cola and loses three stone

-

SHE looks almost unrecognisable from her first appearance in Emmerdale, having lost three stone since 2012.

And Laura Norton has now revealed that cutting out fizzy drinks is the secret to her slim-down – having developed an addiction to Coca Cola in her youth.

Speaking to the Mirror, the actress, 35, admitted she used to guzzle four litres of the drink a day, before her dad made her realise how much sugar and caffeine she was consuming.

Laura, who plays Kerry Wyatt on the soap, explained that her addiction began in her teenage years, and led to her terrible habit of necking two twolitre bottles of Coke each day of filming.

The amount was adding an extra 1,700 calories to her daily diet – equivalent to a portion of fish and chips – as well as an eye-popping 106 teaspoons of sugar.

She said: ‘One day I was at home in my pyjamas and I wanted him to go to the off-licence to get me some Coke. I think he just thought it had gone too far.’

Coming to her senses, Laura swiftly overhauled her health and fitness, and started to follow Joe Wicks’ Body Coach Workouts – which she joked is her new addiction.

‘I was in skimpy outfits all the time on telly, and the camera also adds weight to you, so I thought I’d do something. I started to do a bit of exercise, which I hadn’t done for years.’

The star, pictured left and right, is now more confident than ever thanks to her slim-down, as well as her romance with co-star Mark Jordon.
