HARRY & MEGHAN ARRIVE

- By Jane Fallon Griffin

IRISH fashion experts believe Meghan may wear a green dress on her visit here… but will go for a more modern shade than the traditional emerald.

Speculation as to whether the Duchess of Sussex will opt for an Irish-designed dress or go for a green gúna has been mounting among Irish fashion commentators.

However, it seems that the newest recruit to the British royal family has yet to forge her own individual sense of style in her adopted homeland, making it difficult for fashion experts to predict with certainty how Meghan will dress when she hits these shores today.

However, Brendan Courtney observed that it would be ‘lovely’ if she were to choose an Irish designer, saying, ‘She’d rock a Peter O’Brien coat – but the weather is very warm.’

Mr Courtney, who designs clothing line Lennon Courtney with Sonya Lennon, also speculated that she would wear an elegant Louise Kennedy trouser suit. Ahead of Meghan’s appearance at Prince Louis’s Christening yesterday, when she wore a shade of muted olive, Mr Courtney theorised that she may, in a nod to her hosts, wear pistachio green instead of the vivid emerald or Kelly green associated with St Patrick’s Day.

Shelly Corkery, fashion director at Brown Thomas, said she would like to see Meghan opt for an Irish designer, such as Derry man JW Anderson. But she didn’t think the duchess would don green as her choices were ‘never overly obvious’.

Meanwhile, stylist Cathy O’Connor said the duchess is unlikely to opt for Irish-designed dresses for the visit because she has yet to find her ‘fashion feet’ when it comes to such visits.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit a number of attractions today and tomorrow during a two-day visit to Dublin. news@dailymail.ie
