COONEY RETURNS FOR TRIBESMEN

-

CONOR COONEY returns to the Galway full-forward line for today’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final against Clare in Croke Park. Cooney (right) replaces Niall Burke in the only change from the side that beat Kilkenny in the Leinster final replay. His return to the top of the attack means Johnny Glynn reverts to wing-forward for the All-Ireland champions, but apart from that, it is as you were for the Tribesmen. There had been speculation that Daithí Burke, who has been a rock at the heart of Galway’s defence all year, was struggling with fitness but he has been named at the edge of the square by Micheál Donoghue with Adrian Tuohy and John Hanbury on either side of him. Cork captain Seamus Harnedy has been passed fit to start tomorrow’s hotlyanticipated semi-final with Limerick. The Rebel forward had been a doubt after picking up a hamstring injury in a recent challenge game against the Cork Under 21s. It means John Meyler has named an unchanged side from that which beat Clare in the Munster final. John Kiely has also named an unchanged Limerick side from the quarter-final win over Kilkenny for the semi-final, for which more than 70,000 tickets have already been sold.
