Rooney’s money-making skills are not on the Wayne

-

HAVE boots, will travel... and will make a fortune. Wayne Rooney has reportedly signed a multi-million dollar marketing deal in the US to rival that of David Beckham’s.

The former Manchester United and England star, pictured – who has just moved Stateside to play for Washington team DC United – is planning to make a fortune with his latest contract with marketing giant Octagon.

According to a tabloid newspaper, the deal is set to be signed this week and could see the 32-year-old become one of America’s richest soccer players. It was reported that Rooney – who moved to Washington with wife Coleen and their four children in July – could even see success on reality TV, as well as endorsements for sports, food, phones and cars.

The deal could see the Rooneys earn more than David Beckham, who earned $250million in marketing following his move to LA Galaxy in 2007.

Rooney’s new contract could see the star top what Beckham earned, with the potential to see even more income.

Beckham once reached No.8 on the Forbes list of top-paid athletes following his fiveyear endorsements deal.

An insider told the paper: ‘Things have really fallen into place for Wayne and his family so far and he’s loving life in America... This deal was a key part of his and Coleen’s plan to move and will open them up to a new audience. The promotion deals will feature all the Rooneys. Brands are already lining up to work with him – there is even talk of a reality TV series.’

Rooney’s representatives failed to respond to a request for comment by time of going to press.
