Take it easy, Harry tells his Meghan
PRINCE Harry has urged his pregnant wife to take things more slowly on their 16-day Commonwealth tour which involves 76 engagements.
Tired Meghan yesterday pulled out of a morning event in Sydney, with her husband conducting the visit on his own and telling onlookers she was ‘resting at home [as] being pregnant takes its toll’.
Her pregnancy was announced a week ago – and last night it emerged that Harry might be hoping for a daughter. When a wellwisher called out to him: ‘Congratulations, I hope it’s a girl,’ Harry said: ‘So do I!’
Ms Markle will accompany him on the next leg of their Australian visit to remote Fraser Island, but aides say she will not join him on many, if any, engagements there due to the rough terrain.
It is understood she will also scale back her programme in Fiji and Tonga later in the week.
Aides stressed last night Ms Markle, 37, wasn’t ill, but simply ‘pacing’
HARRY and Meghan will not seek titles or a royal role for their unborn child, it has been claimed. They want to follow in the footsteps of Princess Anne, who declined both for her children, Zara and Peter Phillips, in the hope they could lead ‘normal’ lives without public scrutiny, The Sunday Times reported. The baby will still be seventh in line to the British throne, however.
herself. Although she pulled out of an Invictus Games cycling event, she was able to make a further two engagements later in the day including a reception held by the Australian prime minister and a sailing competition.
A source said: ‘She is not sick, just tired.’ After the pregnancy was revealed courtiers said the couple had no plans to cancel any engagements and the tour programme would continue as planned.
But, inevitably, the long distance they have travelled and the jet lag have taken their toll.
