Why marriage and being a first-time dad is in Vogue for MIC’s Spencer

-

IN 2017, Spencer Matthews knew little of the turn his life would take for the better when he signed onto Channel 4’s The Jump – not only winning the series but also fellow contestant Vogue Williams’s heart in the process.

Now fast-forward nearly two years, and the 30-year-old former Made In Chelsea lothario has hung up his heartbreaker boots and is happily married to the Irish presenter, 32, even more so since welcoming their first child, Theodore, in September.

Speaking exclusively to the Irish Daily Mail, he confessed that becoming a parent has given ‘life a whole new meaning’ while he promoted Southampton shopping centre Westquay.

The couple, pictured, announced that Vogue was pregnant in March – a month after the reality star proposed following a performance of The Lion King at London’s Lyceum Theatre and less than year after first meeting on reality series The Jump.

While some would think their relationship has gone at a rate of knots, it’s clear the old saying, ‘when you know, you know’, couldn’t be truer for the pair as they said ‘I do’ and welcomed the pitter-patter of tiny feet within 18 months of meeting.

Not one to do things by halves, Spencer revealed that he is already looking forward to expanding their brood and giving their two-monthold son a brother or a sister in the near future.

He gushed: ‘I mean, life has a whole new meaning, as any parent will tell you. It’s wonderful.

‘Vogue and I are very much looking forward to starting our family and we feel complete and delighted with the way everything has gone. We’re very much looking forward to expanding our family.

The smitten couple married in June in an intimate ceremony in front of close family on Spencer’s stunning 10,000-acre family estate, Glen Affric, in Cannich, Scotland.

Spencer’s brother James Matthews, 42, acted as best man, while his brother-in-law James Middleton, 31, delivered one of three readings during the nuptials.

Although admitting it was one of the best days of their lives, Spencer said that he feels guilty that their friends weren’t able to join in the celebration as they opted for a more intimate affair.

‘We’ll christen him at some point or least have a naming ceremony for our pals,’ he said. ‘There was talk about doing a large celebration for a wedding and a renewal of vows but we’re not really in a mad rush.

‘Our priorities have changed now that we have Theodore, it’s kind of less about us and more about him, which is completely in line with our opinions about how to be good parents.’
