Saoirse transforms for Little Women role

-

SAOIRSE Ronan transformed into the bookish Jo March as she joined co-star Emma Watson to film the Little Women remake in snowy Harvard yesterday.

The 24-year-old Lady Bird star (far left with Emma) was all wrapped up in period costume to film the lavish adaptation of the 19th Century novel, sporting the classic Victorian attire.

Meanwhile Emma, 28, also got into character as Meg Marsh as they filmed on location in Boston.

Emma sported a classic grey and green Victoria frock with a matching checked shawl, pulling her chestnut tresses into a lightly waved style.

The stunning actress appeared to be filming a tense scene with her on-screen sister as they linked arms on-set – with Saoirse in a red shawl.

Both stars have recently been spotted filming scenes for the drama which tells the tale of four sisters as they come of age in an America still recovering from the Civil War.

The original novel, penned by Louisa May Alcott, was published in the late 1860s but has remained popular.

Saoirse and Emma will star alongside Florence Pugh, Timothée Chalamet, and Meryl Streep in the latest boxoffice offering which is due for release on Christmas Day 2019.

It is directed by Greta Gerwig, who earned critical acclaim last year for her work on the coming of age film Lady Bird, which also earned Saoirse an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
